An investigation was performed to evaluate statistically the results of the first four years of an ongoing hail suppression project in Texas so as to gain information relative to a decision on a future hail suppression effort in Illinois. Continuous hail suppression operations over a 4-year period and in a fixed area offer a good opportunity to assess the effects of cloud base seeding as reflected in surface hail data. Two sets of hail data with long-term historical records in and around the 2-county area in Texas with hail suppression projects in the 1970-73 period were investigated.Downloads
